Shengsi county in Zhoushan, Zhejiang province recently unveiled an action plan aimed at advancing common prosperity on its remote islands.

The plan focuses on channeling more resources into integrated urban and rural development, industrial breakthroughs, quality of life, infrastructure, and institutional reforms to improve the lives and safety of its residents.

The plan also outlines 32 key tasks, including the renovation of the Nan'ao passenger terminal, construction of the Bei'ao passenger center, introduction of luxury ferries, and expansion of the wedding tourism industry, to elevate the reputation of Huaniao Island.

Additionally, the plan includes initiatives to research the allocation of fishing quotas, step up the standardized management of deep-sea fishing, establish an industry access mechanism, and develop related standards to promote the standardized development of the deep-sea fishing industry.

Furthermore, a farming agricultural service center will be established to help bring about breakthroughs in capacity expansion, product development, and online sales of mussel breeding.

Authorities will also focus on strengthening social security and education on the islands, addressing logistical shortcomings, completing the construction of the natural gasification station, and continuously improving medical service capacity. Efforts will be directed towards enhancing the social assistance system as well.
