Zhoushan's GDP hits 210.08b yuan in 2023: Govt report

The GDP of Zhoushan, Zhejiang province amounted to 210.08 billion yuan ($29.39 billion) in 2023, marking an increase of 8.2 percent year-on-year, as reported by Mayor Xu Renbiao during the fourth session of the eighth Zhoushan Municipal People's Congress, which commenced on Feb 1.

According to the report, the city's general public budget revenue experienced an impressive yearly increase of 23.9 percent. Meanwhile, the per capita disposable income of urban and rural residents rose to 76,435 yuan and 49,379 yuan, respectively.

After reviewing the accomplishments of 2023, Xu also unveiled the city's development goals for the upcoming year.

The report stated that Zhoushan will strive to achieve an output value of 63 billion yuan in maritime services. Additionally, the city set growth rate targets for the added value of large-scale industries and retail sales of consumer goods at 8 percent and 6 percent, respectively.

The city will also spare no effort to ensure that the growth of its general public budget revenue, income of residents, and economic output remain in sync with one another.

In addition, authorities will take measures to provide better education and elderly care services, with 4,740 school enrollment slots and nine canteens catering to seniors to be established, as outlined in the report.
