The fourth session of the eighth Zhoushan Municipal People's Congress commenced in Zhoushan, Zhejiang province on Feb 1, according to local media.

Zhoushan Mayor Xu Renbiao presented the government work report, highlighting the city's substantial economic advancements.

The city achieved a GDP of 210.08 billion yuan ($29.47 billion) in 2023, reflecting a growth rate of 8.2 percent.

Xu also outlined the overarching goals for this year's government work, emphasizing the city's commitment to achieving breakthroughs in the marine economy, high-level openness, scientific and technological innovation, rural revitalization, improvement of people's wellbeing, and enhancement of social governance.
