Dinghai makes strides in economic, social development in 2023

Dinghai district in Zhoushan, Zhejiang province achieved significant progress in economic and social development in 2023, with its GDP seeing a 5.2 percent increase.

The general public budget revenue in the district increased by 23.9 percent, while the per capita disposable income of urban and rural residents grew by 6.2 percent and 7.5 percent, respectively.

The district has established a number of key areas such as Jintang New Materials Industrial Park, High-end Shipbuilding and Offshore Engineering Equipment Industrial Cluster, and Zhoushan Grain Industrial Park.

Major projects such as Ocean Family Sea Food Processing and Cold Chain Logistics Base, Zhejiang Jutai New Energy Materials Co, and Zhongrun Intelligent Equipment Co are also underway.

The district attracted 13 projects with investments totaling 10.22 billion yuan ($1.42 billion) in 2023, while its actual use of foreign capital amounted to $105 million.

Dinghai saw fixed asset investments totaling 21.34 billion yuan, a 26.9-percent increase, while the added value of large-scale industries grew by 10.8 percent and that of strategic emerging industries increased by 21.5 percent.

Authorities also achieved remarkable progress in reshaping both urban and rural environments, introducing a 25-kilometer greenway and a 100.5-kilometer cultural corridor showcasing breathtaking natural landscapes, ancient relics, and a rich culture.

Furthermore, the district renovated 166 dilapidated buildings to eliminate safety hazards and refurbished 289 aging residential structures and 29 roads.

In addition, Dinghai completed 81 projects aimed at improving people's wellbeing, including operating canteens for the elderly and establishing public facilities such as sports centers and wellness centers.

Authorities also constructed service centers on remote islands, equipped with self-service medical testing equipment, common medications, and a remote smart healthcare system, effectively meeting the diverse health care and elderly care needs of the island population.
