Zhoushan makes efforts to develop grain industry

Updated : 2022-08-30 (chinadaily.com.cn)

Authorities in Dinghai district of Zhoushan in East China's Zhejiang province have in recent years been stepping up efforts to build a complete grain industrial chain that covers transit shipment, warehousing, transaction and refined processing.

The grain industrial park is one of the achievements made by the authorities.

Authorities had established the Administrative Committee of the Zhoushan International Grain and Oil Distribution Center in 2011 to promote the development of the grain industrial park.

The industrial park has been opening new shipping routes by leveraging the river-sea coordinated shipping center service.

To date, the total transport capacity of river-sea shipping has reached 78,000 metric tons, and a total of 460,000 tons of grain have been transported by the river-sea transport mode.

The industrial park saw a transit shipment of 16.48 million tons of imported grain in the January-July period, up 16.57 percent year-on-year, accounting for 17.9 percent of the national total.

The park has introduced cutting-edge technology to improve its storage capacity. It has the largest warehouse in the province whose storage capacity is 334,500 tons.

The park is also planning to build facilities for the refined processing of corn products to promote sustainability.

Authorities said they will showcase the district's natural resources and attract more investment at the 5th International Petroleum and Natural Gas Enterprises Conference held on Aug 30 in Zhoushan.
