Zhoushan uses tracing system to ensure food safety

Updated : 2021-12-03 (chinadaily.com.cn)

Zhoushan in East China's Zhejiang province has started promoting "Zheshilian", a digital food tracing system developed by Zhejiang authorities, since May this year to ensure food safety, local media reported on Nov 30.

The tracing system uses internet of things and artificial intelligence technology to ensure all food products entering the market are traceable, the province's market regulator said.

"My customers can now scan the QR code at our stall with their mobile phone to check information about production date, inspection and quarantine and products become more credible to them," said a pork stall owner at a food market in Zhoushan.

The QR code is the food tracing QR code of "Zheshilian".

Food processing companies in Zhoushan have also printed the QR codes on their product packagings to assure customers of food safety. The QR codes not only contain information about production date, inspection and quarantine, but also basic information about the producer.

Statistics show that 2,219 food processing and production companies, including wholesale markets of agricultural products in Zhoushan, currently have access to "Zheshilian".
