Zhoushan in East China's Zhejiang province signed a cooperation framework agreement with the China Academy of Art on Nov 3.

Both sides are expected to carry out deep cooperation in the cultivation and employment of university students, urban planning and design, as well as special industry development to support the construction of CAA into a world-class university and Zhoushan into a garden city by the sea.

More specifically, they will cooperate in the development of characteristic maritime industries, creating a calling card of maritime culture in Zhoushan and establishing island bases for CAA students to practice urban sketching.

The agreement also proposes 10 key projects, including a 10-kilometer seaside street, as well as urban and rural landscape designs, to be completed by both Zhoushan and CAA.

Yu Donglai, Party secretary of Zhoushan, thanked CAA for its long-term support of Zhoushan. He also detailed the city's economic and social development, as well as its advantages in natural resources.

He expressed hope that the two sides will further strengthen exchanges to achieve mutually beneficial results and he also promised to support the development of CAA in Zhoushan.

Jin Yibin, Party secretary of CAA, said that the university will ensure pragmatic cooperation with Zhoushan. It will assist Zhoushan's efforts in constructing a garden city and becoming a pioneering demonstration zone for achieving common prosperity.

Founded in 1928, CAA is the first art academy with complete academic programs in China. With three campuses in Hangzhou and Shanghai, CAA has more than 9,000 students and nearly 1,000 faculty members.
