The new material industrial technology innovation and research center in Daishan county, Zhoushan, Zhejiang province, on Oct 28 released a report detailing the progress of its construction.

Construction of the center commenced in February this year and its main building has already taken shape, according to Xu Jianhua, general contractor of the project.

Xu said that construction of the main building is expected to be finished by the end of the year. The entire center will be completed before the end of June next year.

With a total investment of 200 million yuan ($31.26 million), the five-story center aims to become an innovation-driven industrial service base that integrates high-tech research and development, incubation of tech achievements, and cultivation of innovative talents.

As a part of the Xingpu Future Community, the center is expected to provide its workers with both working places and other services, including R&D, production, consumption, and entertainment.

Supporting facilities, including canteens, fitness centers, multi-function halls, conference rooms, and shared rest rooms, will be established in the center.
