GDP expands 10.1% in first three quarters

The GDP of Zhoushan, an island city in East China's Zhejiang province, expanded 10.1 percent year-on-year in the first three quarters of the year, according to the Zhoushan statistics bureau.

The figure is an annual increase of 11.3 percent over the past two years and 4.9 percentage points higher than provincial average. Zhoushan's GDP has now maintained double-digit increase for seven straight quarters.

"Zhoushan has continued keeping an eye on epidemic prevention and control to consolidate economic and social development achievements since this year," said a staff member from the statistics bureau.

He noted that in the first nine months of the year, the performance of industries above designated size and local companies have continued to improve.

The added value of industries above designated size increased 21.3 percent year-on-year and was 4.7 percentage points higher than provincial average during the same period.

The added values of core digital industries, high-tech industries, and emerging industries above designated size jumped 32.7 percent, 29.4 percent, and 25.1 percent year-on-year respectively.

In the first eight months of the year, the operating revenue of 405 industrial companies above designated size totaled 139.94 billion yuan ($21.92 billion), a year-on-year increase of 53.7 percent. The figure is 22.8 percentage points higher than provincial average.

The Zhoushan area of the China (Zhejiang) Pilot Free Trade Zone also maintained stable development in the Jan-Sept period. The Zhoushan area housed another 6,650 companies, a year-on-year increase of 33.6 percent and accounting for 75 percent of the total in Zhoushan.

The Zhoushan area of the Zhejiang FTZ supplied 3.84 million metric tons of bunker oil during the same period, a year-on-year increase of 17.6 percent, making it the sixth largest bunkering port in the world.
