Urban-rural income gap further narrowed in Zhoushan

The urban-rural income gap in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province has been further narrowed last year, becoming the second lowest income gap in the province that is only behind to Jiaxing, according to the local municipal statistics bureau.

The income ratio of urban residents and fishing villagers in the city was 1.63 in 2020, with the provincial average being 1.96.

Last year, the per capita disposable income of Zhoushan's low-income villagers reached 19,163 yuan ($2,950), 4,798 yuan higher than the provincial average and a 10.4 percent year-on-year increase.

Zhoushan also raised the minimum living allowance for its residents to 810 yuan last year, a 12.5 percent year-on-year increase.

In 2020, the per capita disposable income of all residents in the city totaled 55,830 yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4.2 percent, while the per capita disposable income of permanent residents in the city amounted to 63,702 yuan, a year-on-year increase of 3.6 percent.

The per capita disposable income of permanent residents in Zhoushan's fishing villages reached 39,096 yuan in 2020, 7,166 yuan more than provincial average and a 6.3 percent year-on-year increase.
