Cycling event in Zhoushan kicks off

The second cycling event in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province took place on April 18 from 7:30 am to 6 pm, local media reported.

There were four warm-up activities one month before the event. More than 5,500 people have signed up for the event, including the four warm-up activities.

A total of 3,145 cyclists participated in the event: 1,392 for the full race and 1,753 for the half race. In addition, more than 200 families participated in the children's scooter race.

The entire route for the event spanned 160 kilometers, starting from and ending at Zhoushan Stadium. It passed by the coastal avenue, Zhujiajian Bridge, Daqing Mountain scenic area, Luotang Road, and Dinghai Ancient City, among other popular sites.

Participants who finished their race received a medal and a certificate. Those who completed the full and half races within the required time also qualified for the final of the 2021 Zhoushan Cycling Marathon.

During the event, local delicacies, intangible cultural heritage items, and other performances were available for participants and spectators.

More than 300 members from Zhoushan Blue Sky Rescue, BB9 Bicycle Club, and the Communist Youth League of Zhoushan Municipal Party Committee volunteered to offer services for participants. Kinesiotherapists from Bangneng Sports Rehabilitation Center offered rehabilitation treatments to participants at the end point

The event was sponsored by the Zhoushan municipal government and organized by the Zhoushan culture, broadcasting, television, tourism and sports bureau, as well as Shanghai Spring Tour Co.
