Zhoushan in East China's Zhejiang province is home to another professional civilian rescue team, local media reported on March 20.

Founded in Dec 31, 2020, the rescue team of the Zhoushan Outdoor Sports Association focuses on mountain rescue and water rescue.

Relying on the members of the Zhoushan Outdoor Sports Association, the rescue team enrolled 21 members for its first recruitment.

On March 20, the rescue team kicked off their first field training on Dongju Island and a rescue coach was invited to give a lecture on rope rescue and descent control, an important method in mountain rescue.

"My job is an auxiliary police officer and I'm also a member of the Zhoushan Outdoor Sports Association," said Chen Songbo, a member of the rescue team, "I've learnt a lot of new skills from the rescue team and expect to use these new skills to help other people."

According to Wang Fangliang, head of the rescue team, the team consists of a wide variety of professionals, including veterans, doctors, and sailing coaches.

Wang said that they would organize a field training each month to teach and train the members on rescue skills.

Currently, the rescue team is still recruiting members. People who are interested in non-profit rescue work can dial +86-133-9580-0307 for more details.
