Yu Jinhong extended an invitation to visit her village and experience the charm of the countryside during the Chinese-Russian Female Video Conference held on March 15, local media reported.

Yu is head of the Xinjian village in the Dinghai district of Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province. She was the only female representative in the province invited to attend the video conference.

The conference was proposed by the All-China Women's Federation as this year marks the 20th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of China-Russia Good-neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation.

During the conference, she shared the development of Xinjian village in recent years, such as how it now boasts a better environment, booming tourism industry, and efficient government management. She also pointed out that women in the village have emerged as the main contributor to the local economy.

Last year, despite the COVID-19 outbreak, the income of Xinjian totaled 65 million yuan ($9.99 million), with net per capita income reaching 41,000 yuan, according to Yu.

Moreover, Xinjian is not only well-known in China, but also in other countries. The village has received international guests, including officials from the United Nations Human Settlements Programme and the former president of Croatia.
