Dinghai, a district in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, is currently working to nurture new economic growth engines, including the fuel oil and gas, grain and oil, and deep sea fishing industries, local media reported on March 7.

The district recently secured an oil and gas project worth 5.09 billion yuan ($783.75 million), while another 1.28-billion-yuan oil product storage and transportation project is currently underway. It is expected to serve 9 to 10 million metric tons of oil products every year to Shanghai, Ningbo, Zhoushan, and other areas in the Yangtze River Delta.

Dinghai boasts a strong foundation for the oil and gas industry with a storage capacity of 12.9 million cubic meters of oil products, 13 10,000-ton oil product wharfs, and three oil product pipelines.

The district is also currently piloting reforms in oil and gas restoration.

The Zhoushan National Oceanic Fishery Base, located in Dinghai, boasts a full industrial chain development model encompassing deep sea fishing, deep-processing, cold-chain logistics, and financial services.

In addition, the Zhoushan International Grain and Oil Industrial Park in Dinghai is accelerating the planning and construction of container wharfs. During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2020-25), the industrial park is expected to build one container berth and introduce two logistics companies worth more than 100 million yuan.
