Zhoushan in East China's Zhejiang province has introduced 89 companies engaged in maritime service, with a total registered capital of 660 million yuan ($101.84 million) by the end of November last year, local media reported on Jan 13.

Moreover, the city also introduced one port and shipping industrial project, worth more than 1 billion yuan, as well as three river-sea combined transportation projects by that same time.

In recent years, Zhoushan has bolstered efforts to attract investment in general shipping agents, international ship management, and international comprehensive supply to enhance the development of its maritime service industry.

Shanghai-based Golden Harvest Shipping Service Co is one of the high-profile maritime service companies that has been attracted by the strong development momentum of the maritime service industry in the city.

In August last year, Golden Harvest established a subsidiary in Zhoushan and three refrigeration houses in the city's marine industry cluster area.

In order to promote the starting up of maritime service companies in Zhoushan, the city government will allocate a government clerk to assist companies in site selection and business development, said Zhao Jun, director of the investment attraction department of the Zhoushan Port and Shipping Business Development Center.
