Zhoushan draws up blueprints for next five years

Zhoushan in East China's Zhejiang province released its economic and social development plans for the next five years and its long-term goals for 2035 at the 10th Plenary Session of the Seventh CPC Zhoushan Municipal Committee held on Dec 23, local media reported.

According to the authorities, the city has grown into a moderately prosperous society and will, by 2035, become an innovative and open modern coastal city that offers its residents a high quality of life.

In the coming five years, Zhoushan will aim to construct a high-quality development demonstration zone for the marine economy with a regional GDP and per capital GDP of 250 billion yuan ($28.28 billion) and 200,000 yuan respectively.

The city will actively seek to integrate itself with the Shanghai Metropolitan Area and Ningbo and become a source of innovation for marine technology.

Zhoushan will develop its advanced manufacturing industry, boost the development of modern service and digital economy industries, and cultivate strategic emerging and future industries.

It will also take measures to stimulate the vitality of market entities, create a conducive business environment, and promote the digital transformation of government departments.

In terms of rural development, Zhoushan will develop modern fishery and agriculture, continue rural reform and construct beautiful rural areas.

As for the construction of traffic infrastructure, the city will build the Ningbo-Zhoushan high-speed railway, the second line of the Ningbo-Zhoushan highway, the Zhoushan-Daishan Bridge and the Baiquan High-Speed Rail Station. Its Putuoshan Airport will launch routes to more Chinese cities.

With regard to education, the city will support the development of higher education, improve vocational and life-long education systems, and support and regulate non-government funded education.

In terms of environmental protection, Zhoushan will promote the construction of a zero-waste city, advance green and low-carbon development, and complete its mechanism for ecological and environmental governance.
