As of Nov 3, the total container throughput of Jintang port area of Ningbo-Zhoushan Port in East China's Zhejiang province surpassed 20 million twenty-foot equivalent units since its opening in August 2010.

The port area has seen rapid growth driven by improved logistics efficiency and smart customs management. In the first 10 months of this year alone, its container throughput exceeded 3 million TEUs for the first time, supported by steady operations and upgraded clearance services.

Zhoushan Customs has introduced several digital and logistics innovations to improve port operations, including a smart empty-container supervision model to enhance cargo circulation and competitiveness, and a multimodal "Yiwu-Ningbo-Zhoushan" transport channel integrating rail, road, and sea routes for faster cargo transfers. Measures such as simplified document reviews, priority customs procedures for enterprises that have achieved Authorized Economic Operator certification, and convenient inspection services have also accelerated the clearance process.

Alongside throughput growth, the port area has expanded its international network. Since early 2025, eight new international shipping routes have been added, bringing the total to 53. As logistics activity peaks in the fourth quarter, Jintang aims to further optimize supervision and service efficiency to sustain smooth logistics and strengthen its role as a key maritime hub.
