The 2025 Shengsi Amazing Coastline Islands Tour of Shengsi Cycling Challenge was held on Sept 21 in Shengsi county, Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, attracting more than 1,300 participants from across China as well as Japan, South Korea, and other regions.
Riders tackled an 80-kilometer coastal route that combined fast-paced cycling with the scenery of island life. The course covered much of Sijiao Island's shoreline and the event allowed participants to enjoy both the challenge of steep routes and the charm of fishing villages along the coast.
Cyclists praised the organization and the riding environment, noting the pleasure of riding with sea breezes and coastal views. Several participants joined for a second time, bringing family members to share in the experience of the local scenery and cuisine.
During the event, major scenic spots such as Jihu Beach were opened free to riders, earning positive feedback and setting a record for the scale of cycling activities in Shengsi.
As a complementary program, another island-hopping cycling tour is also underway. Promoted as Asia's first panoramic island-hopping cycling event, it combines sports, cultural heritage, and digital technology, and aims to develop new tourism products and further enhance Shengsi's profile as an international tourism island.
