The 194 prefabricated pier segments of the west approach of Qinglongmen Bridge in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, were completed on Aug 20.

The final piece, standing 15.50 meters tall and weighing 540 metric tons, was set in place.

The west approach spans 2.87 kilometers and includes 80 piers, with heights ranging from 11.48 meters to 53.15 meters. Divided into 194 prefabricated sections, the project began its first pier installation on July 11, 2024, completing the assembly over 405 days.

The bridge forms part of the second phase of the Liuheng Highway Bridge, an essential transport corridor linking Yiwu, Zhoushan, and Ningbo. The installation of the piers has laid a solid foundation for the upcoming girder placement.

Once finished, the bridge is expected to enhance transport efficiency and support Zhoushan's regional development.
