The new high-speed passenger ferry named Xiang Yu Hua Niao will begin serving Shenjiawan and Huaniao islands in Zhoushan, Zhejiang province, in early August, providing a fast and comfortable sea journey with a romantic twist.
With an investment of 88.35 million yuan ($12.31 million), the ship is 49.9 meters long and 8 meters wide. It reaches a top cruising speed of 30.2 knots, has a maximum range of 300 nautical miles, and can accommodate 120 passengers. It is designed to withstand wind conditions up to force eight on the Beaufort scale.
The ship's design combines elements of ocean culture with the romantic scene of Huaniao Island. It features multifunctional rooms, an entertainment deck, and spacious viewing areas to accommodate sightseeing, weddings, and leisure activities.
Zheng Yu, captain of the ship, explained that an extra engine boosts the ship's performance, cutting travel time to about 70 to 75 minutes — around 15 minutes faster than conventional ferries.
Equipped with two advanced gyroscopes, the ship significantly reduces motion from waves, improving onboard stability. Passengers can expect panoramic windows, plush seating, and modern amenities, making Xiang Yu Hua Niao a unique experience.
