Zhejiang's 1st batch of new energy mining trucks depart Zhoushan for Indonesia

A total of 30 large new energy mining trucks from manufacturer Tsingshan Holding Group were hoisted onto the cargo ship Min hua 9 at the comprehensive bonded zone terminal of Zhoushan Port in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, on June 3.

The trucks were scheduled to depart for Indonesia on the same day, marking the first export of such vehicles from Zhejiang — opening a new, efficient, and secure export channel for China's new energy vehicles.

With global demand for new energy vehicles surging, the overseas shipment remains a bottleneck. Traditional ro-ro vessels are limited and costly, making it difficult for engineering vehicles to secure space. In response, Tsingshan turned to Zhoushan Port for a solution.

However, the port's license only permitted packaged hazardous goods, while the trucks required non-packaged shipping.

The port swiftly coordinated with the authorities to fast-track licensing updates, collaborated with industry experts to evaluate safety risks, and drafted customized storage and loading plans to ensure safe operations.

To further streamline the process, the Zhoushan municipal administration of maritime safety conducted risk assessments, activated green channels, and implemented fast-track approvals — greatly reducing clearance times.

The operation has offered a blueprint for expanding terminal services of Zhoushan's bonded zone and it's advancing the high-quality cooperation of the Belt and Road Initiative.
