At the fifth session of the eighth Zhoushan people's congress on Feb 11, the city's annual government work report was released, summarizing the achievements of 2024 and outlining development goals for 2025.
In 2024, Zhoushan generated GDP of 222.62 billion yuan ($30.53 billion), representing a 5.9 percent increase. General public budget revenue grew by 7.0 percent and per capita disposable income of all residents increased by 4.5 percent.
The traditional fishing and agriculture sectors grew steadily, while core industries in the digital economy generated over 10 billion yuan in revenue. The petrochemical industry posted a production value topping 280 billion yuan, while the maritime services sector achieved total output of 65 billion yuan.
The city's oil and gas storage capacity reached 39.82 million cubic meters. Iron ore blending volumes hit 20.67 million metric tons and bonded bunker fuel supply volumes hit 7.26 million tons.
The total cargo throughput and container throughput of ports in Zhoushan were 680 million tons and 3.52 million twenty-foot equivalent units, respectively.
In 2024, the value of the city's exports topped a record 120 billion yuan.
Last year, 94 environmental infrastructure projects were completed and the air quality of Zhoushan remained the best in the Zhejiang province.
For 2025, Zhoushan is aiming for GDP growth of over 6 percent, keeping the urban unemployment rate within 5 percent. The rise in consumer prices is expected to keep to around 2 percent.
