As Lantern Festival fast approaches, a raft of celebrations take place in Zhoushan, Zhejiang province, filling it with a festive atmosphere of reunion, completeness, and happiness.

This year's Lantern Festival falls on Feb 12, the 15th day of the first month of Chinese New Year, which marks the first full moon of the year.

To celebrate the upcoming event, the Zhoushan Youth Activity Center hosted themed activities on Feb 11. They featured 100 lantern riddles covering topics such as youth self-protection, history, culture, and daily knowledge. Additionally, a captivating puppet show was performed, showing the unique charm of traditional arts.

On Feb 12, Zhoushan Museum will host a Lantern Festival-themed event. Visitors will be able to admire colorful lanterns, solve lantern riddles, and immerse themselves in a series of rich traditional activities, experiencing the unique charm of traditional culture.

Notably, a Lantern Festival celebration will take place in Putuo district, Zhoushan where visitors can enjoy a puppet opera, also called a "cloth bag opera" – an art form with over 170 years of history – showcasing the unique allure of Zhoushan's intangible cultural heritage.

The event will also include fun games such as picking soft and glutinous tangyuan, which is a traditional treat during Lantern Festival and symbolizes reunion and completeness.
