In the factories at the Xihou Industrial Zone on Jintang Island – located in Dinghai district, Zhoushan, Zhejiang province –workers were busy processing injection molding machine screws to meet the growing demand on Feb 7.

The manufacturing and processing of injection molding machine screws are traditional industries on Jintang Island, with a history spanning over 40 years. Indeed, the island is renowned for being the "capital of screws in China".

Currently, the island hosts nearly 500 screw manufacturers, including 27 large-scale enterprises, employing over 10,000 people.

In 2024, these large-scale screw manufacturers achieved a production value of 3.17 billion yuan ($434.92 million), representing a 10.9-percent year-on-year increase.
