As Spring Festival approaches, the vibrant "Our Village Spring Festival Gala" took place at the cultural hall of Jinshan village in Baiquan town, Dinghai district, Zhoushan, on Jan 10.

The gala featured a variety of activities, including performances, dragon dancing, traditional huohu (fire pot) performances, and a bustling food market, creating a joyous and festive atmosphere.

As the powerful sounds of Zhoushan gongs and drums echoed, a fiery dragon, maneuvered by the local dragon dance team, swirled and danced through the crowd. The performance of the traditional huohu, an intangible cultural heritage item that blends flame manipulation with artistry, elicited gasps of amazement from the audience.

The event showcased numerous cultural novelties from across Dinghai, bringing local customs and traditions to the stage and allowing the audience to experience the festive cheer. Performances included skits, Yueju Opera, and dances, which all heightened the excitement within the cultural hall.

Cultural halls play a crucial role in preserving and promoting rural culture, and Dinghai's cultural halls have been bustling with various activities. Five halls, including the cultural hall in Miaoqiao village, were recognized as provincial-level smart cultural halls in 2024.
