A new micro-enterprise park consisting of seven buildings is nearing completion at the Zhoushan National Distant-Water Fishing Base.

With 95 percent of construction finished, the park is expected to be delivered in October.

Covering a total area of about 70,000 square meters, it includes factory buildings, power distribution rooms, and cold storage facilities and features 20 seafood processing workshops in L-shaped and H-shaped designs with floor heights of 5 and 6 meters. Additionally, it boasts a public cold storage capacity of around 87,000 sq m to support the production needs of small and micro-enterprises.

Several companies have already committed to setting up operations in the park.

Zhoushan Kavet Seafood Co, currently based in Pingyangpu, has purchased a factory in the new park and plans to relocate this year. The new facility will be about four times larger than the current one, allowing for expanded production with new equipment.

Construction on the China Water Tuna Processing and R&D Center, a flagship project for high-end, intelligent marine health food processing, is now halfway to completion. With an investment of around 85 million yuan ($11.7 million), the center aims to process roughly 5,000 metric tons of tuna annually, bolstering Zhoushan's tuna industrial chain.

The park is expected to foster the growth of SMEs, drive high-quality development, and upgrade the fishing base by advancing the distant-water seafood processing industry toward higher value and industrialization.
