Dinghai district in Zhoushan, Zhejiang province is tapping into its cultural and tourism resources to drive rural vitalization.

For example, authorities have established 70 workshops along the 100.5-kilometer Donghai cultural corridor connecting the breathtaking natural landscape with cultural attractions and ancient relics.

These workshops have provided new employment for over 1,500 individuals, resulting in an average monthly income increase of over 2,000 yuan ($276.08) per person. Since its opening last May, the cultural corridor has attracted more than 2.3 million tourists and local residents.

To further support local farmers, an array of markets has been set up to expand the sales channels for their agricultural products.

Related businesses such as camping sites, hot spring resorts, cultural and creative products, and study tours have also been launched along the route.

The local government is investing in upgrading supportive infrastructure, including road networks and internet access, to provide easier access to rural attractions and enhance the overall visitor experience.
