Ningbo Zhoushan Port achieved a cargo throughput of 118 million metric tons in April, a year-on-year increase of 3.5 percent, according to authorities.
The port also handled 3.21 million twenty-foot equivalent units of containers, marking a 2.5 percent growth compared to the same period last year.
The strong performance was largely attributed to a series of measures rolled out by local authorities, including upgrading precise fog navigation systems, optimizing ship berthing and departure arrangements, and formulating rational yard plans.
The launch of the Europe Express project in April also contributed significantly to these positive results, bringing about an increase in the frequency of European rail services and the addition of new stations, such as Indjija in Serbia.
During the month, a total of 89 international trains were in operation, transporting 5,924 TEUs of cargo. This showed a 5.5 percent year-on-year increase in container volume, setting a new record for monthly international train shipments.
In addition, international logistics and the volume of rail-sea intermodal transport services also experienced year-on-year expansion in the same period.
