Liuheng seeks sustainable development

Zhoushan Liuheng Marine Ranch Co and Zhejiang Zheneng Zhongmei Zhoushan Coal Power Co recently signed a strategic cooperation agreement to pioneer an advanced sustainable development model in Liuheng town, Putuo district, Zhoushan, Zhejiang province.

According to the agreement, the model will encompass the large yellow croaker breeding industry, complementary fishing and photovoltaic power generation, and water-heat cycle utilization.

This groundbreaking model is projected to reduce coal consumption by 5,000 metric tons annually eliminate the need for 200 fishing vessels, according to authorities.

The two sides plan to develop a circulating water aquaculture PAS system, breed and winter ecological large yellow croakers, establish the most advanced domestic breeding base, and cultivate core technology for fisheries to provide robust support for the high-quality development of Liuheng's economy.

The two sides also aim to pursue the recycling and reuse of waste heat from power plants in aquaculture systems, creating a new low-carbon circular economic model that reduces costs and emissions and balances environmental protection with economic benefits.

This initiative represents a proactive response to the "dual-carbon" strategy and exemplifies the best practice for accelerating the development of new productive forces, according to a local official.
