Zhoushan in Zhejiang province inaugurated two new ports — the Shulanghu dock and the Ocean Family berth on Feb 29.
These port facilities can accommodate foreign vessels, catering to the import and export requirements of enterprises, thereby generating significant economic benefits.
The Shulanghu dock is set to boost its annual unloading capacity by 18 million tons, reaching a total annual capacity of 44 million tons.
This achievement positions it as the world's only dock capable of simultaneously accommodating two 400,000-ton iron ore ships, a development that significantly advances the establishment of Zhoushan's bulk commodity resource allocation hub.
Additionally, the Ocean Family’s berth is projected to achieve an annual unloading capacity of 450,000 tons, supporting the growth of the cold chain transportation industry, particularly for tuna.
This expansion will meet the unloading requirements of refrigerated ships, thereby fostering the high-quality development of the deep-sea fishing industry.
As of now, the open area of Zhoushan Port spans a total of 1,457.3 square kilometers, with 65 port supervision points, both of which rank among the top nationwide.
