Ningbo Zhoushan Port achieved a record-breaking container throughput in January, handling 3.52 million TEUs, marking a significant 17 percent year-on-year increase and setting an all-time monthly high, according to authorities.
This outstanding performance can be largely credited to the port's robust transportation network and streamlined services.
Notably, the port is home to two 10-million-TEU-level container terminals located in its Chuanshan and Meishan port areas. This infrastructure has significantly contributed to the port's exceptional operational capacity.
Furthermore, authorities have been actively enhancing key initiatives such as smart navigation and meteorological services to mitigate the impact of adverse weather conditions on port operations.
Concurrently, authorities have intensified collaboration with customs and border control agencies, leading to improved planning of inbound vessel schedules, more efficient vessel quarantine procedures, and reduced non-operational vessel time.
