Daishan Port in Daishan county, Zhoushan, Zhejiang province achieved a cargo throughput of 205 million metric tons in 2023, representing a year-on-year increase of 0.98 percent, according to official statistics.
This achievement can be attributed to several key factors, including the continuous release of the ore transfer terminal capacity at Shulanghu Dock and the interconnectedness between the Huangzeshan oil storage and transportation base and the Zhoushan Green Petrochemical Base.
During the same period, the Shulanghu ore transfer terminal saw a cargo throughput of 71.76 million tons, marking a 2.3-percent year-on-year increase. Simultaneously, the Huangzeshan oil storage and transportation base achieved a cumulative throughput of 10.09 million tons, representing an impressive year-on-year increase of 78.77 percent.
Furthermore, the increase in actual refining and chemical capabilities at the Zhejiang Green Petrochemical Base also drove an uptick in the throughput of coal, oil products, and containers in and out of the port.
Specifically, the base achieved a cargo throughput of 67.06 million tons, with the throughput of coal and oil products reaching 14.42 million tons and 37.97 million tons, respectively. These figures represented year-on-year increases of 37.1 percent and 25.1 percent.
Additionally, the container throughput at the base totaled 657,500 TEUs, marking a notable year-on-year increase of 21.11 percent.
