Zhoushan in Zhejiang province held a symposium on Dec 19 in which eight experts gathered to discuss how to bolster the city's marine economy.
The experts provided their suggestions on establishing a global bulk commodity transaction hub and developing clean power and new materials industries.
More than 120 representatives from across the country attended the event.
Wu Dongying, a management scholar from China Baowu Steel Group Corporation, noted that developing iron ore and non-ferrous metal processing and trading will be key in helping Zhoushan build a global bulk commodity transaction hub.
Shi Liying, director of the Office of Chief Engineer at Bright Food (Group) Co, gave advice on how to roll out innovative policies and attract high-quality projects, promote high-quality development of agricultural products trade, and offer better government services to bulk commodity trade.
Chu Xiaodong, Party secretary of Shanghai Research Institute of Chemical Industry Co, outlined proposals for the development of the new materials industry in Zhoushan's green petrochemical base.
