The 2023 China (Zhejiang) Marine Economy Talent Summit opened in Zhoushan, Zhejiang province on Dec 18, according to local media reports.

More than 200 representatives from home and abroad attended the event.

The Zhejiang Zhoushan Marine Economy Human Resources Service Industrial Park and the East China Sea Research Institute of the University of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences were unveiled during the summit.

Zhang Donghui, who was born in Zhoushan and is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, was appointed as an ambassador for talent attraction.

Academician lectures, the launch ceremony of the 2023 China Overseas Students' Return to Serve in Zhoushan Program, and the appointment of nine industrial chain consultant experts were also accomplished.

Zhoushan has in recent years held a series of marine economy events, including five editions of the Free Trade Zone International Youth Scholars Forum, six editions of the National Marine Technology Conference, and seven editions of the Global Ocean Economy Entrepreneurship and Innovation Competition.

These activities have established Zhoushan as the leading destination for national ocean talent events and created a significant brand effect, said a local official.
