Five places in Zhoushan, Zhejiang province were conferred provincial recognition for their pleasant climate, the Zhejiang Provincial Meterological Bureau announced on Nov 25.

Among them, Dongji town in Putuo district and Wuyu village in Shengsi county have been shortlisted as wellness resorts.

Shengsi county's East Cliff scenic area made the list of natural oxygen bars.

Putuo district's Mayi Island and Daishan county's Shayang village have been included on the summer resorts list.

The assessment was based on indicators such as climate pleasantness, health of ecosystems, freshness of air, and quality of supporting facilities, which make a place suitable for the development of tourism, summer holidays, and health preservation in rural areas or scenic spots.

Zhoushan is currently home to 12 summer resorts, six villages for health preservation, and four rural natural oxygen bars, which will play a significant role in advancing the integrated development of the meteorology, agriculture, tourism and wellness sectors.
