Ningbo Zhoushan Port opens new shipping route to BRI countries

Updated : 2023-11-27 (chinadaily.com.cn)

Changjin Basheng, a container ship, left the Jintang area of Ningbo Zhoushan Port after completing loading and unloading of 364 standard containers on Nov 23.

The container ship operates every two or three weeks and calls at countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, including Vietnam, Malaysia, Egypt, and Turkyie.

The route is the 15th international container shipping route introduced by Ningbo Zhoushan Port this year, and it is also the port's 34th for the Belt and Road.

The opening of this new route provides a new channel for China's manufactured products to go overseas and for imported products to enter the country.

To ensure the success of the maiden voyage of the new route, Zhoushan Customs has  implemented a series of measures, including providing one-stop service for pre-arrival reporting and inspection, cargo loading, and ship departure.

The imports and exports of the city with countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative reached 241.25 billion yuan ($33.90 billion) from January to October this year, an increase of 8.9 percent year-on-year, official statistics show.
