Putuo hospital has commenced its expansion project, the first part of a substantial investment of 700 million yuan ($98.16 million). 

The bustling construction site, situated just outside the hospital's north gate, witnessed diligent efforts by workers engaged in tasks ranging from steel reinforcement binding to concrete pouring.

The project, granted construction permits in June 2023, is currently in the phase of foundation construction. The completion of foundation work and the initial support beam's pouring is anticipated before the year-end, paving the way for excavation activities in the upcoming year.

Over a three-year timeline, the expansion project will encompass a sprawling 63,000 square meters. A state-of-the-art medical complex is in the works, housing key facilities like a surgery center, tumor center, rehabilitation center, and medical examination center. 

This comprehensive expansion includes ancillary upgrades for water and electricity, fire protection, ventilation, and the incorporation of advanced equipment such as linear accelerators in two new clinical departments.

Once the project is completed, Putuo hospital is expected to become a modern regional medical center, redefining healthcare services in the region.
