Zhoushan was rated the safest city in East China's Zhejiang province in September 2023, local media reported on Oct 26.

This is the fifth month in a row that the city has been shortlisted as the safest in the province.

The ranking is based on a safety index, an indicator introduced by Zhejiang to measure the safety of cities in the province.

The index evaluates a city's safety in a variety of areas, including politics, society, finance, production, food, drugs, the environment, the internet, and information.

Zhoushan scored 97.77 points out of 100, followed by Shaoxing and Taizhou.
