Shengsi county in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, has over the last year implemented a series of measures to create workshops in an attempt to aid its common prosperity drive.
For example, authorities have rolled out a raft of policies, including providing financial support, with 115.3 million yuan ($15.76 million) in loans issued since last October.
The local government has also been tapping into its natural resources to develop related industries, with workshops revolving around the county's signature products such as mussels, yellow croakers and intangible cultural heritages having been set up.
The county has opened a seafood noodles restaurant in Hangzhou, capital of the province, which not only offers its special seafood dishes, but also showcases cultural and creative products such as fishermen's paintings and fishing knots.
In addition, authorities have held a series of events, including inviting professionals to offer technical guidance to fishermen and creating digital profiles that collect information about policies, resources, demand, and labor to allocate resources precisely.
Shengsi is currently home to 55 such workshops, which have provided jobs to 3,500 locals.
Common prosperity workshops are playing a crucial role in increasing residents' incomes and bolstering relevant industries, said a local official.
