Dinghai sees remarkable progress in economic, social development

Dinghai district in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, has witnessed significant strides in economic and social development this year.

In the economic field, the district deepened the implementation of the industrial innovation plan, with the added value of large-scale industries increasing by 23.9 percent in the first half of this year, ranking third in the province.

The industrial development presents a favorable trend of both quantity and quality, with 33 companies reaching an output value of over 100 million yuan ($13.74 million). Particularly, the shipbuilding industry has shown vigorous development with a growth of 21.2 percent in output value.

High-tech industries have experienced rapid development, with an increase in industrial value-added of 36.6 percent, accounting for 70.1 percent of the added value of large-scale industries. Thirteen advanced manufacturing projects with an investment of over 100 million yuan have been newly attracted.

Authorities have also been making efforts to bolster its tourism economy through building a 100.5-kilometer Donghai Cultural Corridor and holding an array of activities including beer festivals and fireworks shows to boost its nighttime economy.

In addition, they have channeled more resources into well-being projects, with construction of 44 such projects having been completed this year.
