A series of digital avatars and digital collections of swimming crabs, mussels and large yellow croakers were recently released at a common prosperity workshop in Shengsi county, Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province.
The display provides a glimpse into authorities' efforts to bolster the county's signature industries and drive common prosperity through livestreaming e-commerce platforms.
Authorities have established many such workshops based on local natural resources in recent years, which are aimed at providing jobs to residents and increasing their incomes.
An online influencer surnamed Deng from the county's Gouqi Island said that she carried out her online marketing through promoting the island's natural scenery and characteristic maritime culture featuring mussel breeding and production of Luosi soy sauce, and she now has more than 10,000 fans.
Authorities have established a base for training skilled livestreaming workers, invited professionals to offer guidance to residents, and cultivated more than 30 anchors.
They have also been focusing on building some renowned brands to improve market competitiveness and integrated e-commerce into culture and tourism, seafood products and digital technologies.
The county's livestreaming workshops provided jobs to more than 1,600 residents in 2022 and their per capita income amounted to 52,000 yuan ($7,159.33).
