A Zhoushan wooden ship made a debut at the Zhejiang Intangible Cultural Museum that opened to the public on Aug 29, according to local media reports.

The ship, which has a length of 22 meters, a width of 5.5 meters, and a height of 15 meters, was built to maritime standards, and every component is more intricate than those on an actual ship, according to Cen Guohe, the fourth-generation leader of Cen family wooden ships, a national intangible cultural heritage in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province.

Cen added that the ship being displayed before the opening of the Hangzhou Asian Games provides a great opportunity to promote Zhoushan's ancient ship culture and ship-making techniques.

Visitors from around the world will be able to step onto the deck and explore the interior of this antique wooden ship, experiencing the historic culture of Zhoushan's marine and fishery industry.

To incorporate more elements of Zhoushan, Cen placed a fishing net and some fishing tools on board. The accessories were manufactured in Zhoushan and transported to Hangzhou, where installation began on April 30.

To ensure the quality of craftsmanship, Cen invited 11 experienced craftsmen from Zhoushan shipyards to take part. Cen has been present at the construction site in Hangzhou since the start, overseeing the complete restoration of the traditional ship's 47 manufacturing processes.
