Faces of the Games| Zhoushan athlete to take part in Asian Games

Rao Xinyu, a Zhoushan athlete, has been selected to take part in the track competitions at the upcoming Asian Games, the Chinese Athletics Association announced on Aug 15.

A total of 62 athletes have been selected, with this being the first time that an athlete from Zhoushan has entered the Asian Games arena in 33 years.

In the 2018 Provincial Games, Rao Xinyu won the gold medal in the women's 800-meter event.

At the 14th National Games in 2021, she won the silver medal in the women's 800-meter event, setting a new record for an athlete from the city in individual athletics events at the National Games.

In February of this year, Rao Xinyu won a bronze medal for the Chinese team in the women's 800-meter final at the Asian Indoor Athletics Championships, with a time of 2 minutes and 8.75 seconds.

In June of this year, at the 2023 National Athletics Championships held in Shenyang, which also served as the selection competition for the Budapest World Championships and the Hangzhou Asian Games, Rao Xinyu won the gold medal in the women's 800-meter final with a time of 2 minutes and 5.91 seconds.
