A surf park opened to the public in Dongsha scenic area on Zhujiajian Island in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, on Aug 14.

The park is the first of its kind in eastern China and is equipped with supporting facilities such as a bar and a café.

The park is one of the results of Zhoushan tourism authorities’ efforts to advance the city's in-depth integration of sports and tourism by tapping into its natural resources to develop surfing-related industries such as seaside skateboarding and beach leisure activities.

Surfing has also injected new vitality into Zhoushan's catering and homestay sectors. Authorities are planning to hold a series of sports competitions to boost the city's tourism.
