Zhoushan's tourism sees robust recovery in H1

According to authorities, Zhoushan in East China's Zhejiang province received 6.91 million tourists in the first half of this year, up 59.9 percent year-on-year and marking a strong tourism recovery.

The tourism revenue over the period amounted to 10.69 billion yuan ($1.48 billion), representing a year-on-year increase of 60.2 percent.

Accommodation revenue hit 1.62 billion yuan, an uptick of 49.4 percent year-on-year, while catering revenue stood at 3.51 billion yuan, up 30.4 percent year-on-year.

The occupancy rate of hotels was 52.71 percent, 6.56 percentage points higher than in the same period of 2019.

Mi Wen, a staff member of a scenic spot in the city, said that the camping base spots on Cishan Island in Dinghai district for August weekends have been fully booked.

Zhuang Haiyan, a manager of a hotel in Xincheng district, noted that her hotel saw a significant increase in bookings during the cycling race event in April.

The event stimulated consumption of bicycle gears worth 22.73 million yuan and consumption of transportation, catering, accommodation and tourism of 31.13 million yuan.

Authorities will continue holding a series of events such as music festivals and Marathon races to inject new vitality into its tourism industry.
