The Zhoushan Opium War Museum in Dinghai district, Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, has become a popular study tour destination during the summer vacation.

The 1,200-square-meter museum, which opened to the public in 1997 and underwent renovations in 2022, adopts modern technologies to provide immersive scenes for visitors in addition to exhibitions of photos, cultural relics and ancient books.

The museum, which was designated a demonstration base for patriotic education and national defense education in 2001, is open from 8:30 am to 11:30 am and 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm from Tuesday to Sunday.

Zhoushan was one of the major battlefields of the Opium War that took place in 1840 during the reign of Emperor Daoguang of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).
