Zhoushan in East China's Zhejiang province has made outstanding achievements in transport over the past 20 years.

The city has channeled more resources into waterway transportation facilities, including building ferry terminals and passenger ships, opening new shipping routes and improving services.

Authorities have also launched a campaign to upgrade ferry terminals and completed the upgrading of 135 terminals from 2018 to 2022.

The local government has invested 730 million yuan ($101.35 million) to upgrade 88 passenger ships since 2018, with book bars, desks, sofas and green plants featured on the ships.
Authorities have also been making efforts to advance the in-depth integration of tourism and transportation by opening 48 shipping routes and adjusting 54 others.

In addition, authorities have promoted digital application scenarios in transport so that passengers can buy boat tickets on their mobile phones.
