Xinjian village in Dinghai district, Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, has in recent years been tapping into its ecological resources to aid the common prosperity drive.

The village has taken a series of actions, including increasing green spaces and creating murals featuring fishermen's paintings, in an effort to improve the living environment and develop rural tourism.

The village currently has 30 homestays, and the per capita income of residents increased from 7,600 yuan ($1,059.04) in 2006 to 45,000 yuan in 2022.

The village has also channeled more resources into infrastructure, including upgrading roads and power transmission lines and converting some idle houses into homestays, to boost related businesses such as cafes and restaurants.

Yuan Chanjuan, a resident who runs an agritainment, said that the home-grown watermelons, corns and sweet potatoes are popular among tourists, and her agritainment provides more jobs to residents.

In addition, the village has been striving to attract more high-quality cultural and tourism projects such as a bookstore and sports and leisure facilities.

The village has over the past eight years received more than 900 study tour groups and 80,000 artists, which generated more than 50 million yuan in revenue.
