Dinghai eyes greater high-quality development

Dinghai district in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province has made remarkable achievements in high-quality development over the past 20 years.

The district has been focusing on bolstering its marine economy by developing industries such as new materials, new energy, high-end equipment manufacturing, and grain and oil processing and storage.

Dinghai is currently home to 430 enterprises including industry-leading companies such as Yantian Port Group, China Grain Reserves Group and China Merchants Group, and the combined output value of its large-scale industrial enterprises in 2022 was valued at 29.58 billion yuan ($4.12 billion).

Dinghai has also channeled more resources into improving residents' well-being by renovating urban landscapes, improving healthcare, elderly care and education facilities, and carrying out ecological restoration.

The district has renovated Dinghai Ancient Town, built pocket parks, opened preferential canteens for seniors, and improved the ecological environment along its coastlines.

In addition, Dinghai has been advancing its rural vitalization drive by tapping into natural and cultural resources to develop rural tourism and related industries such as homestays, as well as improving the living environment as part of its efforts to achieve common prosperity.

The district has built a 100.5-kilometer cultural corridor featuring 196 cultural landscapes including ancient relics, ecological hills and beautiful villages.
