Zhoushan, a coastal city in East China's Zhejiang province, has promoted the development of a full-chain fishing industry that integrates deep-water fishing, cold-chain logistics, deep processing, aquatic trade, financial services and scientific research and innovation.
Agreements on 10 major projects worth 1.8 billion yuan ($251 million) in the sectors, including the aquatic products supply chain, maritime transportation capabilities, deep processing of aquatic products, marine biomedicine and the production of ready-made aquatic food, were signed on July 6 at an investment promotion event in Zhoushan.
A modern marine ranch featuring a complex of ecological fishing and tourism and jointly developed by Dalian Marine Ranch Group and Liuheng Cultural Tourism Investment Group has received significant attention.
With a total investment of 560 million yuan, the project will be located in the southeast of Liuheng Island and the north of Shan Island in Zhoushan and will serve as a national-level marine ranch demonstration area, an ecological fishing and tourism platform, a multi-functional marine ranch platform, and a marine ranch ecological fishery seed base. The project aims to restore and increase aquaculture activities while also injecting new vitality into Zhoushan's tourism industry.
By the end of 2022, a total of 26 projects had been completed as part of the city's efforts to develop full fishing industrial chain.
